Daily Reminder

This beautiful new hand-thrown baptismal was unveiled at our church yesterday. Gorgeously crafted this vessel sits in the middle of the center aisle, directly in front of the narthex, with the altar framing it in the back, you can't miss it.

There are many ways and reasons I love Community Lutheran Church and how my faith has grown there, this functional work of art added a new layer and richness to my faith.

Yesterday we had threes baptisms at our early morning service, we also had new member presentations and added more than 5 new families to our growing congregation! The message we heard was a reminder of how we are "Forgiven, loved, and free." Today I want to remind you that, with Jesus we are all forgiven, loved, and free!

With the presentation of the baptismal font the congregation was invited to dip our fingers in the water and mark ourselves with the sign of the cross, a reminder of our baptism.

In Luther's Small catechism he writes

"What does such baptizing with water indicate?

It indicates that the Old Adam in us should by daily contrition and repentance be drowned and die with all sins and evil desires, and that a new man should daily emerge and arise to live before God in righteousness and purity forever."
Today your old self can pass away, we are new creations free to love and forgive as we have been loved and forgiven!
Hallelujah!
