NYC Spring 2018, Short but Sweet

Location: we stayed in an amazing Brooklyn Airbnb near the Lorimer stop for the L train, getting to Union Square was a breeze. 

What we ate: Food is provided as part of our ticket to Mockingbird so we only checked out a few new places while in town. 

We tried some beers from far off places at the rustic Spuyten Duyvil

MsSorley's Old Ale House, one of the oldest taverns in Manhattan. Men only until the 70's, this place was more amazing than I could've predicted.

Most of our days were filled with Mockingbird's 11th annual conference. The caliber of teachings and speakers this year was stupendous. I am still mulling over and journaling about the words I heard over the weekend. 

My favorite day of our entire trip was easily Saturday, here's some of what we did. 

a.m - wrapping up Mockingbird's conference with a second talk from Alan Jacobs, a Q+A with Flemming Rutledge, and finally the DZ finishing out the weekend. 

lunch - the Meatball Shop, followed by ice cream

afternoon - we got drinks at Eataly with my brother, went to the Strand bookstore, Forbidden Planet comic shop, then we went to the Met for a few hours

evening - Robbie and I walked arm in arm though Central Park, all the way from 82nd to 41st street! We met his aunt and uncle for a late dinner and drinks in Mid-town. On the way home I finally got to see the stunning Grand Central Station. 

We went to bed that night so happy and in love with everything. Even though California is home and favorite place, NYC and Mockingbird Conference will always be a magical oasis for us. More about my favorite talks once they are posted online, for now I still want to enjoy our trip.
